In just over one month, We will be starting our breeding for 2023 kids! There will be a lot of pictures to come of breeding, round bellies, and then babies! As of right now we only have six goats since we had genetic issues with one goat and had to sell the whole line. Also since willow decided to have a whoops pregnancy and gave birth this July, she will not be bred this December! So Below is our breeding plans to come! Bucks go in with does December 1st.
The B & B Thunder Will breed to Wicca (Unregistered)
7R Sisters Razors Edge (Barn name Reaper) Will breed to Naked Bear Ranch Midnight
7R Sisters Razors Edge (Barn name Reaper) Will breed to Hackberry Lane's Ivory Moon
Then come Either March or December 2023, whenever I decide I will be breeding her:
The B & B Thunder will breed to Ava's LegacyRidge DT WIllow
The only thing that might change my plans is if Wicca goes into heat while in with Thunder and he is not "Getting the job done" Or struggling to do so. Thunder is currently only about to be seven months old and will be eight months by December 1st. I am fairly confident he will breed her just fine since he is being very bucky already. But, if for some reason he can't do the job she will be taken to see Ivory's half brother Castor for a date since she can't be bred to Reaper as he is her dad.
Will we keep any babies?
The answers is hopefully yes! If we get any girls from Ivory or midnight in May we will be keeping at least one from each. Wiccas kids we can't keep however since one, they can't be registered, and two, the doe will be related to both our bucks. So we cannot keep her daughters. Knowing my luck though, everyone will have bucks but her!
This is the quick encyclopedia of all my goats I've owned and have pictured! Now in the goat world of registered goats, it is common to name kids with the first letter of their moms (Dams) name and when it comes to registered names, there will be something like a word or initials to point to the dad (Sires) Names. I will also be adding terms I use a lot for you to find here as well at the bottom!
Ex of naming scheme I will be using:
Dam: Ava's Legacyridge DT Willow
Sire: 7r sisters razors edge
Doeling I am making up: Sorrenstar RE Whisper
Sorrenstar is my herd name and will go in front of all of my goats names that I bred
RE points me to Razors Edge rather than Thunder so I know Razor Sired them
Whisper starts with W like Willow so I know Whiper is the daughter of Willow and not Ivory
*I will use P for Wicca although she isn't registered and I SHOULDN'T keep kids from her

Codex's Brother - Son of Star and Reaper, never named
Jackal - Stars son, Ghosts full brother, Castrated, died of Polio

Jerbil - Son of Phantom and Juniper, Full brother to Jax, Renamed baby S'mores, lives with his mother in a pet home together
Milo - Son of Phantom and Midnight
Prince - Son of Phantom and Wicca, Castrated and living with Wren and Wysteria in a pet home
Wally - Son of Willow and Phantom, full brother to Wren and Wysteria, froze to death after being sold
Wicca's Brother - Son of Magic and Reaper, was never named, likely died of Enterotoxemia after being sold
Weaver - Son of Reaper and Willow, full brother to wolf
Wolf - Son of Reaper and Willow, Full brother to Weaver, had moonspots
Adga - American Dairy Goat Association, a place to register goats and track pedigrees
ND - Short for Nigerian Dwarf, the breed of goat I own which is a mini breed
DHIR - Milk test that weighs lbs of milk and tests butterfat and various other things to show a dairy goats performance on milk quality and production
*M - only for does, A milk star earned through DHIR testing to show the goat has high butterfat and high volume, each generation that gets a star will have a higher number, 1*M, 2*M, Ect.
*B - Only for bucks, the sire must have *B or +B, the dam must have a *M in both volume and butterfat
+B - only for bucks, the buck must have 3 daughters from different dams all with their milk stars, more +'s means 3 more daughters. so ++ is 6 daughters
Ags - An alternative registry than Adga, they are supposed to be interchangeable, but ADGA's new system doesn't support it as of right now.
Confirmation - The body structure of a goat, showing if the goat is well put together or needs work. Can only be improved through breeding the right pair together.
So I have been posting some pictures with info on my goats in the descriptions, but I want to also introduce my herd here, and tell the story of how we went from our first 5 to the completely different 6 we have now and mention anyone kept in between. This will be long, but I will link it all in my posts so anyone can figure out how they are related if they want and see who each one was and their story with us.
So back in summer 2020, we decided to get goats because my brother and sister in law got goats. We thought it would be a fun backyard project to do. Then we came across Blue Cactus Dairy goats on youtube and I fell in love with the idea of not just owning and breeding goats for milk, but to breed them for show. This would include pairing the does with bucks that improved on their structure and how much milk they put out. At this point we had 5 goats and things werent going too hot.
Our herd was:
Bucks:
Pyre and Taz - Something was immediately off about these two. They were supposed to be Nigerian dwarfs but were most likely Nigerian Pygmys. They had no interest in the does at all and wouldn't even try to breed them. They were afraid of Poppy. Also Taz had a bad disbudding job (Removal of the horns as a baby) done and had these flat jagged horns that weren't growing right.
Does:
Poppy - Poppy was large for a nigerian. Not enough for me to think she was mix bred but she could have been. She has massive horns and was MEAN. They boys were terrified of her and she constantly slammed Star into walls, fences, you name it. She hit me with her rorns once too while I tried to handle her.
Magic - Magic was the daughter to Poppy. She was cute and bratty, but was getting mean because her mom taught her to be.
Star - Star was Polled (naturally hornless), sweet, and gentle. She was also pregnant when we got her and we had no idea. Poppy terrorized Star on a daily basis and Magic helped. Star was constantly running all the time to get away.
We decided since we wanted to show, we needed hornless registered goats. We brought in a new buck we called Reaper and sold Taz and Pyre. We got rid of Poppy to hopefully save Magic from being that aggressive too and to protect Star once we realized she was pregnant. Star had two bucklings we named Ghost and Jackal. we castrated and kept both but unfortunately lost Jackal to Polio leaving just ghost. We bought Phantom to be a buddy to Reaper.
Our herd was:
Bucks:
Reaper, Phantom
Does:
Star, Magic, Ghost (Wether or castrated male)
Magic was bred to Reaper and gave birth to my sweet angel Wicca. Yes, she is my favorite. She always has a place in the herd no matter what. However, at this point, I was getting tired of the horns. Magic was becoming a bully and used her horns on EVERYONE! We had bought our first registered does Midnight and Willow at the time as well as a doeling we named Ivory and a buckling we named Castor, and they were half siblings. At this point star had two more bucklings. Magic was a monster to all the babies and the new does. The last straw was her hooking one of stars boys with her horns and throwing him. I gave her to my sister in law because she had a horned herd. Stars boys were sold and I had a vet come out and remove Wicca's horns so she could stay int he herd. Then we bought another unregistered goat we renamed Juniper to replace Magic thinking we wanted a few unregistered goats.
Our herd was:
Bucks:
Reaper, Phantom, Castor
Does:
Star, Ghost (Wether), Willow, Midnight, Ivory, Wicca, Juniper
We had this group for several months. But at some point I realized this is not what I wanted. Star, ghost, Wicca, and Juniper were unregistered. I realized I didn't want so many unregistered goats in my herd anymore. Juniper had two boys with us at this point, Willow had her triplets, and star was freshly bred as was Wicca and Midnight. So I decided to cut down on the unregistered goats. I had no idea what possessed me to buy Juniper, but I needed to resell her. So we sold Star, Ghost, Juniper, and gave castor to my sister in law because I wasn't sure why I thought I needed 3 bucks with not that many does and he couldn't even breed top Ivory. We kept Willows Doelings and named them Wren and Wysteria.
Our herd was:
Bucks:
Reaper, Phantom
Does
Willow, Midnight, Ivory, Wicca, Wren, Wysteria
This is the one that broke my heart! I was sad to see poppy go. I was even sadder to see Ghost and Star go. But I knew they were all best to get my herd where I wanted it to go. But this last one is what almost broke me. My neighbors doe broke out one fall and jumped in with my boys. She was in full heat and Phantom ended up breeding her. Phantom has blue eyes, reapers is brown. Moms eyes were brown. so the blue eyed babies were a dead giveaway they were phantoms. The next fall the herd came down again because the same doe was in heat but the boys were older as was another buck in that herd who was a standard mix. He bred Willow which is very dangerous since he was a standard mix and she is a mini breed. Her babies would be too big for her to pass. So we called out a vet to give my does a shot to abort anything they were pregnant with. Then we went to the neighbors and she had her boys castrated.
This is when we saw Phantoms son had a non descended testicle (Cryptorchidism). I did some research to find it was hereditary and found his mom had thrown it in the past. Unfortunately, Wren and Wysteria were his daughters. So they could throw it too. I was already trying to sell Wysteria and Phantom earlier because phantom had so many kids with us and I was having so many issues getting him papered. But I had bonded with Wren and I had decided she could stay papered or not. Until I found out about the genetic defect she could throw. So I cried, and decided it was best to sell her. I sold her and Wysteria to a pet home and sold Phantom as a pet castrated as well.
At this point Wicca had one buckling who we castrated (Phantoms son) and kept for a while before selling him too, Midnight had one buckling we sold before knowing about Phantoms genetic problems. Willow had two bucklings with Reaper but also unexpectedly because we have no idea how she got bred that time. With the money I got from Wren, Wysteria, Phantom, Willows bucklings, and Wiccas buckling, we went out and bought a young 6 month old buck from really good lines named Thunder. And that is where our herd stands now.
Our herd now:
Bucks:
Reaper, Thunder
Does:
Willow, Midnight, Wicca, Ivory
We are currently going to stick with these six for now, but I have accepted that our herd can change at any time for any reason. If anything, we will be adding more goats and not removing any more. Phantoms situation was a whole mess on its own, and after over a year of having him we never did get his papers. it turns out ADGA can no longer register kids who have one or both parents registered under AGS and not ADGA so we would have never got his papers anyways and I am almost relieved to be done with his lines though my heart still hurts after selling Wren. We do for sure plan to add more does down the line and ONLY another buck when we have enough does for 3 bucks.
Our current plans as of now are in December Wicca will breed to Thunder, Ivory will breed to Reaper, and Midnight will breed to Reaper. Willow will not be bred until either March or next December because of her whoops pregnancy she is getting extra time to recover.
Hello everyone, Supernatural777 here. I've come and gone on this site in the last 13 years ive been on here. Its so strange to have literally grown up on here. I started back in 2009 when I myself was merely 13. I spent a lot of time on here not posting and mostly just checking in and looking through old notes and comments. At some point I had abandoned this account and moved on to the account Fantasyfreak36, likely because I was ashamed of all of the old posts and comments on this account from when I was 13. But as many times as I have been on this site, I never posted anything in 11-12 years.
Today, I am happily married to my wife, we own a house and too many animals. We live on 7 acres of a farm and I have been stoked to get our breeding program with them off the ground. We have been breeding about 3 years now, but We haven't gotten serious about it until more recently. My life goals are to dedicate myself to farm life and breed quality goats. Currently I also work at a dog rescue with my wife, but its temporary for the both of us as she is in college and once graduated she will move into a career and I will be leaving my work to be a full time farmer.
As for my content on here, I am not sure the exact location I want this to go, but I would not be upset about the idea of making this a place to share my goats and farm adventures. I also have a story I have been writing for 10 years now that I might post as well. It is a fantasy about dragons/riders which I started my sophmore year of highschool. I also still draw from time to time, so I might also post those down the line, but we shall see. Either way, I hope to make a full official comeback very soon and hopefully I can get a little bit of an active following and maybe make a few friends who knows!
